Waterhaul Litter Picker Review – Giving Back To Nature One Pick At A Time

As an avid outdoor adventurer, it was a real pleasure to have Waterhaul recently reach out to The Walking Northerners blog.

For those not in the know – Waterhaul are a Cornwall based enterprise who specialise in scouring the UK’s coastlines for fishing equipment and transform it into recycled products that inspire positive environmental action.

Currently offering a range of sustainable sunglasses and nifty outdoors equipment, Waterhaul founder, Harry, was kind enough to mail over one of their litter pickers for me to put to the test on some of my upcoming ventures.

Moved & inspired by their brand ethos, it’s certainly been nice to introduce their equipment up north and give back to the trails here which have given me so much over the years!

During our latest hike to Simon’s Seat in Yorkshire, we decided to give the car park and surrounding area a good ol’ tidy up!

Perhaps what I love most about the Waterhaul litter picker collection is that the products are made from recycled material; meaning they aren’t adding to the problem to they’re fighting.

It’s great to think how each product purchased is directly helping the brand expand their recycling efforts by creating more demand for plastic to be removed from our shores.

The handle, trigger and jaw components are made from 100% recycled polypropylene fishing gear.

Sturdy, lightweight and easily portable, I’ve been personally getting to grips with their Folding Litter Picker iteration over the last few weeks which has snugly fit into my backpack during our last few countryside hikes.

Quick & easy to assemble, just slot the two opposing parts together and you’re good to go!

Having only previously picked litter by hand, Waterhaul’s pincer makes the task so much easier than constantly bending down. The efficiency also means you can clean up much faster and at scale – trust me, you’d be surprised how quickly you can fill up a bin bag!

Likewise, the magnetic end made rummaging for metals such as bottle caps a breeze.

In addition to the litter picker, Waterhaul also kindly mailed over one of their Recycled Litter Picking Bag Hoops to help in our cleaning efforts.

Lightweight yet sturdy, simply clip in a refuse sack and off you pop. The handle makes it super easy to carry the bag hoop with just one hand whilst the other is free to concentrate on pinching up rubbish.

The final verdict

There really is nothing quite like the fulfilling feeling you get after a day out adventuring – even more so after finishing your trip with a bin bag full of rubbish in one hand and a litter picker in the other!

Going forward, the Waterhaul litter picker is absolutely going to have a regular spot in my rucksack when I’m out and about.

While it often goes unnoticed, keep your eyes peeled for litter and you’d be shocked just how much is actually lying around.

Both the litter picker and bag hoop were of terrific quality and pair perfectly together. Hardy, functional and environmentally friendly, you really would be hard pressed to find any better on the market than the Waterhaul range.

Currently offering a 10% discount for all new customers who sign up to their mailing list, be sure to check out the official Waterhaul website if you fancy picking up a litter picker and joining the cause for yourselves.

Even if it’s just for 10 minutes at the start or end of your adventures, every pick helps 💪

Thanks again for the equipment Waterhaul; keep on doing what you’re doing!
