Hidden somewhere up in the hills of Snowdonia National Park lies one of Wales’ worst kept secrets…
The Snowdonia ‘Secret’ Infinity Pool.

Built by local farmer Wyn Mostyn Jones in 2016 as a green energy project, his £400,000 pool soon caught the attention of both locals & tourists alike, quickly rising in fame to unintentionally become one of Snowdonia’s key attractions.
Not much of a secret anymore then…
A quick image search and it’s easy to see why Wyn’s creation is so popular. The tranquil pool offers some of the most breath-taking views of Snowdonia (Eryri in Welsh) National Park – the perfect spot for a refreshing dip!

The hot-spot was branded an infinity pool since it seamlessly blends in with the surrounding hills, streams and rocky landscape by having no distinct edges.
On our latest camping trip to Snowdonia, we had our hearts set on visiting this elusive location. (Check out more from our Snowdonia camping trip here).
After doing some online detective work the day prior, we pitched our tent on arrival and immediately set off to track down the secret spot.
Let’s just say the search for the pool was most certainly worth it. Arriving in the late afternoon, we also luckily had the place largely to ourselves.
Cliché I know, but pictures just don’t do it justice. The views are miles better in person and the chilly temperature of the water was so revitalising after a full day out in the blazing sun.

Where is the Secret Infinity Pool in Snowdonia?
While Snowdonia’s ‘Secret’ Infinity Pool isn’t much of a secret anymore, people are still rather tight lipped when it comes to the exact location…
It’s not viewable from the main road – being well camouflaged in the hills – so it’s best to have some idea as to where you’re going.
With a little effort however, the Snowdonia Infinity Pool isn’t THAT hard to find. It just takes a bit of researching beforehand!
Now we aren’t going to simply give the location away (where would the fun be in that?), but we can share some key clues that personally helped us in tracking down the spot…

Top tips on how to find the Snowdonia Secret Infinity Pool location
-
It’s nestled in the hills above the Llanberis Pass
Reading news articles online helped narrow down our search radius. We soon discovered that the farmer who built the Secret Infinity Pool was a local to Nant Peris, with the pool being located somewhere above the Llanberis Pass.
-
Look at other people’s pictures
Looking at pictures online helped when trying to figure out exactly where the pool was burrowed in the hills. Reference points can really help get a feel as to where the location is.
-
Have a browse around YouTube
Alternatively, there are a growing number of YouTube vloggers recording their trips to the pool. Keep your eyes open and you may be able to spot some key clues…
-
Get searching via Google Earth
Once we had a rough idea of where the pool could be, we were able to browse Google Earth and eventually pinpoint the exact location. Meticulously tracking streams with your mouse can get quite tedious, but this was how we eventually found what we were looking for. The shape of the pool is clearly man-made so you’ll know without doubt when you’ve spotted it.
Staying safe when visiting the Snowdonia Infinity Pool
To ensure your safety when checking out the Infinity Pool, it’s important to research beforehand and come prepared with reliable navigation to keep you on track.
When looking at videos and images of the location, you’ll see the A4086 road just below. You should always approach the pool from this road since it’s the safest and (as far as I know) only accessible way to reach the site.
The craggy landscape of Snowdonia is extremely hazourdous, so it’s vital you stick to the established paths and not try approaching the pool from other directions.
If you do feel you’ve gotten lost, please do not try improvising your own way through the terrain and safely make your way back to one of the proper routes.
Best time to go to the Snowdonia Secret Infinity Pool
With the location continuing to grow in popularity, the pool these days can get rather busy – especially in peak hours and during the summer months.
Pick your visiting time wisely – you don’t want to be waiting around for people hogging the pool, spending an eternity trying to get that ‘perfect’ pic for their Instagram…
In light of this, we chose to go in the late afternoon on a weekday, arriving around 4:30pm-5:00pm and had the pool mostly to ourselves.
We’ve also heard that going very early in the morning is a great time to visit before the pool gets too crowded. Watching the sunrise here would be quite the sight I’m sure.
Where to park for the Secret Infinity Pool in Snowdonia
There’s very limited parking on the road directly beneath the pool location via several laybys. If these are full, your best bet would be to head to the nearest car parks in Nant Peris, which are around a half hour walk away.
We visited the pool during our camping trip in Llanberis and actually walked along the road from Llanberis town, which took around 1 hour 30 minutes.
The longer walk just made jumping in the pool feel even more rewarding, and along the way we got to take in more gorgeous views of Snowdonia National Park.

Can you swim in the Snowdonia Infinity Pool?
The shallow waters and small-scale of the Infinity Pool make it better suited for a quick dip rather than a proper swim.
If you’re wanting a larger wild swimming spot, Llanberis Lake just down the road is a great option. The waterfalls along Snowdon’s Watkin Path are also absolutely stunning and well worth a paddle.

Keeping the Snowdonia Secret Infinity Pool clean
This goes without saying obviously, but let’s all try and keep the Snowdonia Infinity Pool clean. It’s such a beautiful location, but there’s unfortunately been reports of late night parties and instances of litter being left behind.
Let’s respect the location, respect each other and respect the legend of a farmer who allows us all to visit his private pool.
No late night parties, no littering and keep safe.
