Gazing out at Copenhagen’s glistening ocean and city skyline from the comfort of a toasty wooden hot tub, unaffected by the winter winds roaring all around the harbour – there’s nothing else quite like a visit at Copenhot.
With a few days left to take from our work holiday allowance, me and my girlfriend recently decided to book a last minute city break to Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen.
Out of all the activities we crammed into our fantastic 4-night winter adventure in the European metropolis, our most memorable experience by far was Copenhot.
How to get to Copenhot
Copenhot Address: Refshalevej 325, 1432 København, Denmark
Residing on the harbour of Copenhagen – just to the east of Nørrebro district – Copenhot is 6 km from Central Station, which is roughly a 20-minute bike ride or a 1 hour 15-minute walk.
Situated in the up-and-coming hipster hotspot, Nordhavn (The North Harbour), Copenhot is hidden well away from the bustling city centre, making it the ideal spot to chill out and unwind.
What is Copenhot?
Offering a mixture of hot tubs and saunas overlooking the seafront of Copenhagen, Copenhot is a simplistic take on an outdoor spa that just oozes in coolness.
Described on the official site as ‘wilderness facilities in an urban setting’, there are a selection of both private or shared wooden baths and saunas situated by the ocean, all of which are fuelled by fresh seawater and firewood chopped on site.
One of the main attractions at Copenhot is the Sailing Hot Tub – a tub which literally cruises round the harbour and even comes with your very own skipper!
For most however (ourselves included), the cheapest and most popular choice is the ‘HotDays’ package, where you share the available facilities onsite with a small group.
If you need to cool off, there’s also the option to dip in a designated section of the ocean beside the hot tubs. With a depth of 7 metres you’re even able to jump in from the harbour.
Quite a shock to the system during the freezing winter months!
With staff regularly coming round to top up the firewood or take drinks orders, the 90-minute time slot is just the right amount of time to slow down, warm up and take in the magnificent skyline views of the harbour.

What should I bring to Copenhot?
All that’s required is your swimming attire and maybe a hat if it’s particularly nippy!
Towels are provided, although you may want to still bring a spare so you can wrap your wet swimming costume in it afterwards to avoid getting your bag damp.
We also brought a pair of flip flops for when we were wandering out of the hot tub.
Is Copenhot moving location in 2022?
During our visit, I was informed that Copenhot is soon going to be moving locations.
Unfortunately, it sounds like there’s some kind of rave/party company offering to pay higher rent in order to take over the site.
Nevertheless, Copenhot is going to relocate and from what they have planned, it sounds like their new location is going to be even cooler than the current one!
Personally, I can’t wait to go back and check it out.
